Russia terminated the agreement with Ukraine on the main oil-products pipelines


Russia has terminated agreements with Ukraine on trunk oil product pipelines, as considered inappropriate to further participation. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. Now the Russian foreign Ministry should inform the Ukrainian side about the decision.

The agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and Ukraine on cooperation in the operation of the main pipelines was signed in July 1995 in Moscow.

Original document provided that the oil product pipelines Samara – the Western direction and Grozny – Armavir – Labour, passing on the territory of Ukraine, operated by the subsidiaries of Transnefteproduct. In addition, it regulated certain aspects of the operation of these trunk pipelines.

As the orders published on the website of the Russian government, the agreement was terminated in connection with the inadvisability of participation of Russia in it. The fact that “Transneft” has sold passing through the territory of Ukraine, the pipelines of the Swiss company International Trading Partners AG. It is noted that the deal last year approved Federal Antimonopoly service and Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.
