The Federation Council approved the agreement on the indefinite location of air base in Syria


The Federation Council (SF) almost unanimously ratified the agreement on the Russian airbase in Syria. The document was supported by 158 senators and one abstained. Earlier it became known that in Syria there will be permanent base of the Russian Navy.

The head of the Federation Council Committee on defense Viktor Ozerov said that in Syria “for a long time was the attack of international terrorism on the Syrian people, with the connivance of many countries”, writes “Kommersant”.

However, the situation, according to him, was changed after September 30, 2015, the senators gave permission for the use of armed forces outside Russia. After that “Russian troops adequately perform the order of the Motherland”.

Document the location of the airbase was signed on 26 August last year in Damascus, in August 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted it to the consideration of the lower house of Parliament. The state Duma unanimously ratified the Treaty on 7 October.

Note that recently it became known about the plans of the Ministry to create in the Syrian Tartus a permanent base for the Russian Navy. Now there is a item logistics of the Russian Navy.
