Merkel invited Putin to dine in the Normandy format


German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged Russia’s Vladimir Putin, France’s Francois Hollande and Ukraine’s Petro Poroshenko to hold a meeting in the “Normandy format” on Syria in the format of dinner. Date — 19th October, but still unknown response of Moscow.

The Ambassador of Russia in France Alexander Orlov confirmed that German Chancellor Angela Merkel has proposed to hold a meeting in the “Normandy format” in Berlin in the format of dinner. “Mrs Merkel has invited the three leaders of the “Normandy format” to meet for dinner,” he told radio station Europe1.

According to him, the dinner to be held on October 19.

However, the official representative of the Cabinet of Germany Ulrike Demmer stated that she had information about the preparation of no such meeting.

Earlier, the French leader Francois Hollande said that he sees no sense in meeting with Vladimir Putin.
