First Deputy Minister of culture Vladimir Aristarkhov received a comment from the government. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, published on the official portal of legal information.

The document says that Aristarkhov received a comment on the article 59.1 of the law “On state civil service”. This article provides for penalties for failure to comply with restrictions and prohibitions related to the settlement of the conflict of interest and “failure to perform duties prescribed in order to counter corruption.”

The reason for the observations in the order of the Prime Minister is not specified. It is possible that it is associated with large-scale embezzlement in the Ministry of culture. So, in July after the scandal brother Aristarkhova Andrew left the post of General Director of JSC “Restoration company”.

This organization regularly won tenders of the Ministry of culture and received multimillion-dollar contracts for restoration. RBC cited from the website of public procurement, according to which in the autumn 2014 to March 2016, “the Restoration company” signed contracts worth 1.2 billion rubles.

In addition, in September the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor General’s office to investigate cases of illegal export abroad of paintings, icons, armor and other cultural values. In each case, the Ministry of culture gave permission for the export of rarities.
