On Wednesday, the White house held a meeting in which senior officials of the US administration will discuss the possibility of the use of force against the regime of Bashar al-Assad, writes The Washington Post.

According to the newspaper, the possibility of military action in Syria was discussed last week by representatives of the state Department, the CIA and the chiefs of staff.

In particular, they proposed to bomb cruise missiles and other weapons of long-range runways of military airfields in Syria.

To avoid criticism from the UN security Council, it was proposed to put these attacks in secret and not to take responsibility for them, said a source.

Officials noted that this measure is intended to not to allow government forces to seize the city of Aleppo with the support of the Russian space forces.

According to The Washington Post, President Barack Obama is unlikely to want to solve the Syrian issue by force. So, most likely, the White house will not approve military action without a UN security Council resolution.

On Monday, the US state Department announced the termination of cooperation with Russia on Syria, in fact, laid on Moscow blame for the worsening situation in Aleppo. Afterwards, Russia moved to Syria antiaircraft rocket complexes With-300. The defense Ministry reported that this is done solely for defensive purposes.
