The experience of the Palmyra is used in the CIS

In St. Petersburg, at the Military Academy of communications named. Budyonny, a meeting of the chiefs of the CIS. The top military leadership of the eight republics gathered in the Northern Palmira to compare notes and discuss joint steps to combat international terrorism. The forum was held under the chairmanship of chief of General staff of armed forces Valery Gerasimov.

The delegations of the defense ministries of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan met to discuss the development of cooperation in the field of security and defense.

As told Valery Gerasimov, “on the meeting special attention was paid to the issues of further development of joint military systems. Identified ways of improving the system of the armed forces of the CIS. The forum also agreed to develop a unified geographic information system for military purposes”.

Senior officers have reviewed the experience of our military engineers, who were engaged in the clearance of historic Palmyra, and considered the draft agreement on joint unit humanitarian demining.

As you know, from 2 April to 6 may, our engineers took part in clearing the ancient monument of historical and cultural heritage. A detachment of the 98 people cleared more than 800 hectares of territory, 79 km of roads, more than 8 thousand buildings. The bomb squad found and defused about 18 thousands of mines, bombs and land mines. Features of work was a high density of mines, the availability of bombs of high power, radio controlled and wires, many of which were established by militants in the-handling device.
