Modern followers of the Ukrainian collaborators during the Second world war is in turmoil: President of Israel Reuven Rivlin from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada has accused Ukrainian nationalists of OUN (banned in Russia as extremist organization) complicity in the Holocaust. In particular, in the extermination of Jews at Babi Yar. Because the current Ukrainian government is of the ideological heirs of the OUN, the scandal has turned out loud. From Israeli President demanded an official apology.
So, Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, the representative of Kiev in the humanitarian sub-group on Donbass Irina Gerashchenko called the statements inappropriate Rivlin. “During a speech in the Ukrainian Parliament, the President of Israel has allowed itself incorrect and undiplomatic assessment on certain tragic pages of Ukrainian history, in particular, of the OUN. It was, in my opinion, unwise position of our distinguished guest…” — wrote Gerashchenko on his page in Facebook.
Deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament, the leader of Radical party Oleg Lyashko said that Rivlin should apologize to Ukrainians for his words about the fact that among them were many Nazi collaborators. And Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine and concurrently Chairman of the OUN (the organization with the same name and operates today in Ukraine) Bohdan Chervak and even called the statement of the head of Israel spit in the soul of Ukrainians. “To accuse the OUN in the Holocaust, and even during the parliamentary hearings on the occasion of 75-th anniversary of Babi Yar tragedy, is to humiliate the Ukrainian nation”, — said Chervak.
President of Israel Reuven Rivlin during his speech in the Verkhovna Rada noted that about 1.5 million Jews were killed on the territory of modern Ukraine during world war II at Babi Yar and many other places… Many accomplices of the crime were Ukrainians. And of particular note were the fighters of the OUN, who mocked the Jews, killed them, and in many cases given to the Germans… According to Rivlin, it is impossible to rehabilitate and glorify the anti-Semites.
We will remind that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in may 2015, gave members of the OUN-UPA (Organization of Ukrainian nationalists — Ukrainian insurgent army, banned in Russia) the status of fighters for Ukraine’s independence”, and its veterans — the right to social security.
– It’s Rivlin in Parliament was a blow to the jaw Bandera — said in an interview with “MK” Israeli publicist Avigdor Eskin. Their reaction speaks for itself. But in the speech, Rivlin was nothing unexpected. Eight years ago 36 members of the Knesset sent a letter to the then President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko with the requirement to stop the official policy of the glorification (canonization. — M. P.) of Nazism.
There was a statement by the Israeli foreign Ministry at the same time on the same subject. Three years ago, 62 members of the Knesset addressed the European Parliament’s concern about the growth of neo-Nazi, anti-Semitic and Russophobic tendencies in Ukraine. Israel refused to participate in sanctions against Russia and refused to condemn it in the UN. Israel refused to sell Ukraine any kinds of modern weapons and simultaneously signs a contract with Russia for the supply of the best drones in the amount of $ 200 million. As for the requirements to apologize, we have six million reasons not to do that.
According to historian Vladimir Kornilov, the fault of the Ukrainian nationalists in the Babi Yar tragedy is undeniable.
— Evidence of involvement of militants of the OUN in the slaughterhouse — enough, — he told in interview to “MK”. — There are photos of people in blue and yellow armbands at Babi Yar and the mass of evidence that the most menial work there was done it is they, not the Germans, and the materials of the investigation carried out in the USSR, many documents confirming this. Yes, the executioners of Babi Yar were mostly Ukrainian nationalists, OUN activists, who arrived in Kiev in the German convoys.
— But official Kiev propaganda today claims that the Germans executed at Babi Yar and the OUN, in particular, the poetess Olena Teliga?
— Yes, in the end, the Nazis executed many Ukrainian nationalists, including some of the executioners of Babi Yar. One of the founders of the Nazi party, Ernst röhm, for example, was also murdered by the Nazis, but that doesn’t make him fascist. Teliga was the editor of the collaborationist newspaper “Ukrainian Word”. Just open the newspaper and read how she was to persecute the Jews and justify this persecution. However blasphemous that the Ukrainian authorities called one of the streets leading to Babi Yar, the street Olena Teligi and the other street., another leader of the OUN, glorifying fascism. But hardly anyone will be able to clearly specify the place where it is killed and buried in these figures. Not logged the Germans then each of the executions. Someone said that she was killed by the Gestapo and was buried in the cemetery Lukyanova, someone- about Babi Yar. However, does this make them less fascists, less anti-Semitic? Is this for reconciliation with the victims of the shootings, which they justified?
In addition to the streets named after the Ukrainian Nazi collaborators in Kiev, there is also a memorial plaque to the famous ideologist of the OUN Dmytro Myron, nicknamed the osprey. Many historians believe that Dmytro Myron and the commandant of the Ukrainian collaborationist police of Kiev Orlik, whose signature is on the leaflet with the order of the police to gather the Jews to be sent to Babi Yar, is one and the same person. Now to his memorial plaque placed on the building of the National Opera of Ukraine, laying flowers.
It should also be recalled that “grandmother” of modern Ukrainian nationalism was the notorious Yaroslav (Slava) Stetsko, an OUN activist and wife of Bandera’s Deputy Yaroslav Stetsko, who after the German occupation of Lviv proclaimed there the puppet “government” of Ukraine. He is considered responsible for the bloody pogrom, which began on the first day of the occupation, 30 June 1941.
Returning to Ukraine from exile, Slava Stetsko created on the basis of the OUN and the party “Congress of Ukrainian nationalists”, from which are descended practically all of the modern Ukrainian nationalist and Nazi organizations.
