Astronomers working at the Observatory Slooh, introduced the newly discovered comet C/R3 2016. It is barely possible to distinguish between space pictures, however, the specialists underline that even such frames represent value, because to see this celestial body was more than difficult. It is possible that more of this comet will not be in the picture in the next Millennium, maybe ever.

Published the allows completely confirm the existence of the comet open on 11 September, a famous Crimean Amateur astronomer Gennady Borisov. Also, scientists were able to more accurately calculate the orbit of a celestial body. However, experts recognize that is still not entirely clear whether, the comet was completely destroyed during the emergency approach to the Sun.
Experts note that to see the comet turned out to be possible around the horizon and only for a short period of time, 30 minutes before dawn. Because of this observation, hinder the rays of the rising Sun, and the fact that space object from the observer “separates” a much thicker layer of atmosphere than if the comet were flying “on top”.
The diameter of the comet, according to current estimates, approximately 3.8 kilometres. According to astronomers Bernd Lutkenhoner and Paul Cox, the convergence of C/2016 R3 and the Sun at a distance twice smaller than the distance between the Earth and the Sun, will occur on October 12. If the comet “survives” this event, it will continue its movement and, as expected, for some time will leave the Solar system.
Scientists hope that before the comet away from the Earth quite a long time, it will be in sight after passing behind the Sun. This would give a chance to collect on the comet for more information and, probably, to check whether it is open in 1915 and subsequently “lost” comet C/1915 R1. The data available today is sufficient for the emergence of such suspicions, but too little to confirm it.
