Poroshenko on visa-free regime with the EU: a great gift for a birthday

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko was so happy with the positive decision of the Committee of the European Parliament to grant visa-free regime to Ukrainians that called him the best gift on your birthday, which only can be imagined.

Coincidentally, European parliamentarians, and in fact announced his decision on September 26 – when the Ukrainian President celebrated the 51st birthday.

For the decision on the abolition of visas for citizens of Ukraine voted by 39 parliamentarians from 43. However, the decision of the Committee still needs to finalize the actual EP… Probably, this question will be raised during the next session, to be held in October in Strasbourg.

As assured the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy, during his meeting with EP President Martin Schulz last promised that the final decision would indeed be made at the session in early October, provided that “the relevant Committee will vote for the liberalization of the visa regime”.

However, Petro Poroshenko did not wait for October and immediately threw it overwhelms all the positive emotions concerning the decision of the Committee of the EP.

“The best gift on birthday to expect it was impossible! European Parliament Committee on civil liberties were in favor of granting Ukrainians visa-free regime,” – wrote the President of Ukraine on his page on the social network Facebook, expressed hope that this vote will be a step to a final decision on the abolition of visa regime between the EU and the Square.

Commenting on the decision of the parliamentary Committee of the EP, Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olena zerkal also welcomed the next step towards the much-anticipated Ukrainian nationals event.

“This is an important day that you’ve been waiting for… the result of the vote suggests that in the European Parliament aware that there is no real reason to delay a final decision… soon we plan together with the Minister of justice of Ukraine Pavel Petrenko to meet with the ambassadors of the countries-EU members for further action in this direction”, – quotes the words of Deputy Minister UNIAN.
