Kerry held a meeting with Maduro

U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry met with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in the Colombian Cartagena. This meeting was the first official meeting between politicians.

The talks were held after the signing of the peace agreement between the Colombian authorities and the rebels. “We are looking for a solution that will work for the benefit of the people of Venezuela,” said Kerry.

Earlier it was reported that rebels of the Revolutionary armed forces of Colombia (FARC) and the government of the Republic signed the agreement, which ends nearly half a century of civil war. Their signatures under the document were put by the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos and former rebel leader Rodrigo Londoño Echeverri, known, Timochenko.
