The representative of the Japanese foreign Ministry in an interview with TASS said that his government will keep the course, aimed at concluding a peace Treaty, subject to the return of all four Islands of the Kuril ridge.

Previously, RIA Novosti reported, citing the Japanese newspaper “Kamui” that Japan was willing to withdraw the claim in case of return two Islands – Habomai and Shikotan. The question of Etorofu and Kunashir in Tokyo are going to continue after the conclusion of a peace Treaty with Russia.

The publication notes that the negotiations about the fate of the territories is planned at the APEC summit in Peru in November this year. Also an appropriate question will be raised during Vladimir Putin’s visit to Japan in December.

Note that in early September, the Russian President in an interview with Bloomberg said that Moscow does not intend to trade in its territories. Due to the territorial dispute, both countries formally are still at war.

Earlier media reported that the Japanese government, if returned, may be allowed to stay there for Russian citizens, but later in Tokyo, this information was also refuted.
