The Ministry of the Russian Federation sent to the Ministry of economy the bill on the suspension of the program of housing privatization. According to Deputy construction Minister Oleg Betina, the document must also enroll in a government.
Betin noted that the volume of privatized housing in Russia has reached 85%, and the new municipalities do not build. The majority of subjects supported the continuation of the program because it reduced the cost of housing, does not need major repairs, receives a property tax.
However, the Ministry of construction led the argument in favor of the suspension of the privatization program. “Privatization produces negative consequences and the inability to help those in need,” said Betin, explaining that because of the mass privatization reduced the housing stock for social use.
