Sarkozy said the West needs Russia

According to the former French President, some foreign policy issues the Western countries need to co-operate with Russia.

“As President, I would never have agreed to the policy of sanctions against Russia. First, we need Russia’s help to find a solution to the conflict in Syria. Second, the creation of an atmosphere of a new cold war is a gross miscalculation… At the time I had to resolve a very complex problem of armed conflict in Georgia. And I did it without any sanctions against Russia and a serious loss for the economy of our country,” he said.
