Environmentalists: endangered gray whale tangled in nets near Sakhalin island


Relevant information was confirmed the head of “Ecological watch of Sakhalin” Dmitry Lisitsyn.

“The representatives of the International Union for conservation of nature told us that on the evening of 12 September in the area South of the spit of Piltun Bay in the North-East of Sakhalin island, a group of scientists have seen in the sea of gray whales coupled to a network with a lot of floats… the Animal was moving 500 metres from the shore. Presumably, the whale was trapped recently as actively trying to escape”, he said.
