Noon in Thessaloniki in September – test. The sun was warm in earnest. It’s time to wander through the cool halls of museums, of which there are in abundance. So I wandered into a Museum of photography. And was shocked.

The exhibition, which runs here, called “Another life. Human flows.Unknown Odyssey. It is about the feelings experienced by the Europeans in the last two years in connection with the influx of migrants. Greek Bank, which went fragile boats crammed with people, was the starting point of this great migration. The first part of the exhibition dedicated to the beginning of the path to Europe. 26 Greek photographer passed this way with migrants. Their photographs formed the basis of the exhibition.
Here dozens of boat migrants in a hurry to long-awaited shores. First acquaintance. On tired faces happiness. It fell, and how many people never made it to the Greek shores…
In Thessaloniki opened an exhibition about the journey of the migrants (10 photos)
The second part of the exhibition about death. The Director of the Museum of photography of Hercules Papajanov advises those guests who have the weak nerves, skip this section:
– Do not be offended, ” he says. – I have many years of doing exhibitions, but none of them was so hard emotionally as this one.
Hearses at the pier cemetery on the beautiful island of Lesvos, dozens, if not hundreds of hastily-erected gravestones…
And this part about the children. Very adult eyes of a teenager. His mother sent him to buy vegetables at the market. And when he returned – the house was not, was not and his mother and his little sisters.
Children playing ball. “These children were to us from the nearest point of stay of migrants,” explains Hercules. Later we invited them to the opening of the exhibition. They came and took this photo. Someone learned it myself, someone my cousin, who is now with his parents in Germany. Then begin to discuss the bright sneakers and jackets from charity funds in which they captured on photo. Kids will be kids, despite all the disasters and trials.
And this section of the exhibition, I would say – different worlds. Great strain is felt even in the postures of vacationers at the beach. Despite the tolerance they are terribly uncomfortable to run suddenly strangers from foreign parts.
The main message of the exhibition is to understand the troubles of these strangers, not retreating from them, to let them into your world.
Oh, look to the future, a hundred years to see at least one eye, what will turn this great migration to the other…
