The Prosecutor General of Ukraine opened a case against the interior Minister Avakov


The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko, a criminal case against interior Minister Arsen Avakov.

Speaking on air of the Ukrainian “24 channel”, he said that the decision to prosecute was taken after the appeal of the head of the Center of counteraction of corruption Vitaly Shabunin. Under what article criminal case is not specified.

“On the day I receive letters from several dozen people, including from Shabunina, according to the letter which similarly opened a criminal case, you’re not going to believe anyone, to the Minister of internal Affairs Avakov, because all the same,” — said Lutsenko.

The head of the interior Ministry publicly admitted that the number of crimes in Ukraine increased by 30-40 percent. He linked this fact with poverty, availability of weapons, and also that the police stopped to close unsolved cases.

A month earlier it became known that the MP Sergey Kaplin from “Blok Petro Poroshenko introduced to the Verkhovna Rada a resolution on the resignation of the Minister of internal Affairs, writes “Kommersant”. According to him, the interior Ministry under the leadership of Arsen Avakov demonstrated “the failure of the security of citizens and struggle against criminality”.
