The reason for the event is today, September 12, was the 292-th anniversary of the transfer of Peter the First in the then capital of the Empire of the relics of Prince Alexander Nevsky.

The vicar of the Alexander Nevsky monastery, Bishop Nazariy said that today is not only a national holiday, but “the only way for the Church citizens to feel our oneness, to see each other and see what each of us is alone”.

Note that after the procession began the secular part of the holiday: honoring veterans, was awarded the order of Alexander Nevsky.

At the same time, as reports the edition “My district”, the procession was accompanied by “guidance” of the priests that “the Tatars wanted only the tribute, and the Swedes carried a perverted faith.”

On the background of the procession, which, according to media reports, was attended by about 10 thousand believers in St. Petersburg also hosted the celebration of Eid al-Adha, where, according to the mufti of St. Petersburg, gathered 100 thousand people.

“Coincidence” two religious ceremonies, the first of which had to block off Nevsky prospect, the city authorities did not comment. We will remind that the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko known for its apartment to the Church and regular visits to mount Athos.
