USA expect from Russia’s “correct choice” on Syria

The United States is ready to cooperate with Russia on the Syrian track, if Moscow will comply with the terms of the previously reached ceasefire, said U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. Agreement on a 48-hour cessation of hostilities in Syria, entering into force on 12 September, was signed by Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of state after nearly 15 hours of negotiations in Geneva. However, in addition to compliance with the armistice Washington, according to Biden, is waiting for Moscow and other steps.

“(Americans) there is no doubt that we will not cooperate with Russia, if she does not make the right choice, Biden said in an interview with famed journalist Katie couric. — I mean, if Russia will fulfill its part of the agreement, will not give the Syrian air force to take to the air, will allow to deliver humanitarian assistance in Aleppo… If we come to agreement regarding which groups are hostile — for example, “Front EN-Nusra”, “al Qaeda”, “Islamic state” (all three as terrorist and banned in Russia. — “MK”), we can cooperate.”

The last question is not less important than the observance of the truce. Experts have repeatedly pointed out that the resolution of the Syrian crisis has been hampered to a large extent the lack of unity between external actors in the issue of recognition of certain groups as terrorists. And if these reasons Biden movements are prohibited in Russia, and the United States, and even at the UN level, the compromise on the other factions yet and is not expected.

As for the ceasefire, the free Syrian army — the main opposing forces of Bashar al-Assad’s military forces — already declared readiness to join the truce. If it is successful, that is, without the numerous and widespread violations of, will last for the required 48 hours, he can roll over.

Negotiations between Lavrov and Kerry in Geneva lasted more than 14 hours. Fortunately for journalists languishing in anticipation of the outcome of the meeting, they are not left without food: “to redeem (ha ha) prolonged already for 9 hours break caused by the coordination of the us delegation in the talks with Washington, Kerry sent Lavrov and his team a pizza. Lavrov attributed it to journalists. Journalists (not ours) asked to her the vodka. Lavrov asking for a long time had had. “Pizza from the Americans, the vodka from us,” — Lavrov said, passing ration for,” — wrote on his page on Facebook, the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
