Three months before the 25th anniversary of the CIS and the week before the summit of heads of States of the Union in Bishkek, the state Duma decided to take the opportunity to once again remind myself, in the run-up to parliamentary elections. In their opinion, one of the main tasks of the CIS in the near future should be the protection of the former Soviet Union from the influence of the West. To do this, Kyrgyzstan will sign a number of documents that will strengthen the CIS.

Hardly anyone would argue with the fact that the CIS is more dead than alive. First, not all former Soviet republics wanted to become its members, and secondly, many members of the Union are creeping war with each other, and thirdly, over the years, some members of the CIS began to regret that once decided to join, or even left the organization. However, the state Duma, officials of the CIS and the loyal experts gathered at a round table in the bleachers,” he set out to prove the opposite: the CIS is alive and will live to spite of enemies.
The first word took the Chairman of the state Duma Sergey Naryshkin, who announced a minute of silence in memory of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, who made an invaluable contribution to the friendship between Moscow and Tashkent. Hard to say what he meant, the withdrawal of Uzbekistan from the CSTO, refusal to participate in the Eurasian economic Union or a common policy of isolation of the country, but is invited to meet MPs, scholars and officials as one decided to remain silent.
The following were made by CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev, who stressed that despite heavy criticism of the Union, he is ready to agree only with the fact that CIS needs to be reformed, but a large part of the blame for the weak dynamics of the integration lies with those who refuse military-political cooperation with Russia. However, he believes that the basis for the CIS is the economic and historic community, founded in the USSR. “The Ukrainians are trying to break these ties suffer from this… God Himself has given us to be together. Be friends with the neighbors easier than with those who are overseas,” concluded Mr. Lebedev.
The threat of military aggression, looming over the entire post-Soviet space was a red line and via other appearances. All agreed that it is not necessary to consider the EU as our benefactor, as European politicians do not hide that is not in their plans to help Russia. According to the panelists, the West wants to take over the post-Soviet space, and if Moscow will save on defense, it will suffer the same fate as Libya.
They also agreed that the main problems of CIS began after the country decided to integrate themselves into the international space. “Without consulting anyone, they decided to join the WTO first, and then in Association with the European Union”, – said Mikhail Krotov, Secretary General of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.
Besides trouble Moscow in the former Soviet Union has added an abundance of different interpretations of history that are inconsistent with the official version of the Kremlin. According to the participants, contradictions in the estimates of the last from Russia to Armenia and Belarus, and all the other positions have yet to be agreed.
As noted by the Director of the first CIS Department of the Russian foreign Ministry Mikhail Evdokimov, 25 years since the creation of any organization would need “tweaking”, and that is it on September 16 in Bishkek will be engaged in the heads of CIS countries. He reminded that in 2017 Russia will be the Chairman in the CIS, and uses every opportunity to strengthen its institutions.
