One of the invitees for the treatment of President Islam Karimov, doctors told about the trip to Uzbekistan. In an interview with YLE the Finnish neurosurgeon Juha Hernesniemi told that on August 27 he was approached for help by his former student from Kazakstan. It turned out that Hernesniemi urgently called to Karimov. However, by the time to treat stroke of the President it was too late.

Hernesniemi specializing in aneurysm of cerebral arteries, publishing YLE called one of the leading neurosurgeons in the world. He participated in the treatment of 70 thousand patients, he was often invited abroad. Finnish doctor was among the group of foreign experts who were invited to make a medical conclusion about the health of Islam Karimov after the stroke.
“The patient was in fact dead, it was brain-dead,” – said Hernesniemi, noting that at that stage, to carry out the operation no longer made sense.
After the doctors provided their opinions, began the “game of power”, said Hernesniemi, referring to media coverage of the situation.
Recall that Karimov suffered a stroke, it became known on August 28. On 29 August, the chief editor of “Fergana” Daniil Kislov said about the death of the Uzbek leader. However, later in the interview he said that it was clinical. August 31, Karimov’s daughter reported the possibility of recovery.
