In St. Petersburg opened a monument to Sergey Dovlatov

Weekend in St. Petersburg was marked “D-Day” – a city holiday, devoted to the 75th anniversary of Sergei Dovlatov. For this reason on Rubinstein street, 23, opened a bronze monument to the writer. At the Grand opening of new York arrived the writer’s widow, Elena and daughter Catherine.

The sculptor Vyacheslav Buhaev stressed that he sought the implementation of this project, and only now, thanks to the support of the city authorities, it was possible to implement. The historian Lev Lurie noticed that the monument to Dovlatov is “the answer of the city bridge Kadyrov.”

Changed several times the time and location of the monument – originally it was planned to put in the yard 23, where the writer lived, and then left at the corner of the building 25, near the bar “Flowers”. For this reason, even re-plastered the wall of the neighboring house.

The creators of the sculpture say that to install it I had to violate the relevant law on monuments, on which to erect monuments can be no earlier than 30 years after his death. Dovlatov died 26 years ago.
