Putin: review of the outcome of the Second world fraught with “unpredictable consequences”

Russian President Vladimir Putin called attempts to revise the territorial results of world war II “Pandora’s box”, noting that it can be fraught with unpredictable consequences.

On the eve of Vladimir Putin’s meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, Abe Sinja at the Eastern economic forum in Vladivostok the chief editor of Bloomberg John Micklethwait asked the Russian leader a few questions about territorial disputes with Japan and China. Then the journalist asked Putin whether Russia return Kaliningrad oblast.

“If someone wants to begin to revise the results of world war II, let’s try to discuss this topic. But then you have to debate on Kaliningrad, and in the whole of Eastern lands of Germany in Lviv, which was part of Poland, and so on and so forth. There is Hungary, and Romania have”, — Putin said in response to the question of Micklethwaite.

Editor-in-chief of Bloomberg said that the issue of Kaliningrad was a joke, however, Putin answered seriously.

“If someone wants to open this Pandora’s box and begin to work with him – please, flag in hand, go ahead,” – said the Russian President.
