In the Centre of Russian folklore raging passion. Its Director, Alexander Yefimov, was fired, and in a leadership position appointed Oleg Ivanov. It would seem that the employees time to get ready for work and realize that under the current leadership was impossible, but it is not up to that. They defend the interests of the Centre, which, in their words, “the culture Ministry is going to abolish and to convert to a Federal centre of expertise for theatre, film and circus projects” (referred to in their address on the website). What is it?
Here are explanations of the Ministry of culture: “the Appointment of Ivanov is due primarily to poor management Centre and multi-million dollar debt of institutions for the lease of land. Judicially seized one of the two buildings of the Center, terminated the lease with the property Department of Moscow city for late payment of rent. In addition, among the violations of unlawful redevelopment, the use of the premises of the Center for private security company without legal documents.
Naturally, in such circumstances the Ministry did not consider it possible to renew the contract with the previous management and appointed a new head of the Center, tasked to investigate the situation and to submit proposals to the founder, including on repayment of debts of multimillion-dollar companies.
It should also be noted that in recent years, in large part duplicates the functions of the other two organizations under the Ministry – the State house of folk art and the research Institute for cultural and natural heritage”.
And the last sentence is very interesting: it hinted at the uselessness of the Centre of Russian folklore as such. Here it becomes clear concerns of its employees, expressed in an open letter:
“The folklore center is the only organization, which on a scientific basis, with the participation of leading scientists of our country working to study and preserve the intangible cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia. Closing or pureprofile it (which is essentially the same thing), figures from the Ministry of culture violate the provisions contained in the principles of state cultural policy document where the preservation of national cultural heritage is declared one of the priorities. Such actions not only unacceptable but also criminal.”
About the mergers and the closure of the Centre while early to speak, but to assume such an outcome is possible. After all, government policy now seeks rather to decrease than increase, and the first to suffer from this institution of education and culture.
Help MK: Centre of Russian folklore — is currently the only organization where productive studying, maintain and update the national cultural heritage. Cooperated with dozens of leading Russian scientists: linguists, ethnologists, ethnolinguistic, etnomusicologia, art. And yet it is the only organization that brings together cultural theorists and practitioners, learning the basics of folk singing, dancing, decorative art.
