The Russian special services suspected of attempt of hacking think-tank in Washington


Hackers attempted hacking of the information systems hosted in Washington think tanks that deal with Russia. In the attack, as before, accused the Russian special services.

Only the attack were the five organizations and ten staff engaged in the study of Russia, reports Defense One, citing the company CrowdStrike.

As stated by the founder of CrowdStrike Dmitri Alperovich, the attack is the hacker group called Cozy Bear is one of two groups suspected in the attack on the servers of the US Democratic party.

According to the interlocutor of the edition, the hackers tried to access information of the responsible officials in these centres. Many of them previously worked in government and continue to advise those working in the government at the present time.

In turn, the Vice-President of the Center for strategic and international studies (CSIS) (the organization was also attacked by the hackers) James Andrew Lewis stated that for any “think tank” to become the target of hackers — honor.

“The Russians just don’t understand the idea of independent institutions, so they are looking for secret instructions from Obama,” said he.

Note that more than a month ago the Americans accused the hackers allegedly controlled by the USA, hacking into the servers of the US Democratic party. The stolen data was later published on WikiLeaks.

In mid-August Washington from threatened to enter against Russia new sanctions. In turn in Moscow all charges in the address deny.
