Biden said as blackmail made by Poroshenko resignation of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine

Vice President Joe Biden in an interview admitted that Washington played a decisive role in the resignation of the now former Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin. However, especially zealous the Americans did not have: they only hinted that the Ukrainian authorities will not receive the next tranche of a billion dollars.


In an interview with the Atlantic, Biden said that he gave the ultimatum during a private meeting with Poroshenko. “Peter, you don’t get a billion dollars. It’s okay, you can leave the Prosecutor. Just understand that we will not pay if you’ll do it.”

In late March of this year the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has sent Victor to resign. On it was replaced by Yury Lutsenko, and for his purpose it was necessary to urgently change the legislation, as the protege Poroshenko was not legal education.

The zeal of Kiev will not remain without attention. As stated on the website of the President of Ukraine, Washington has approved the appointment of Lutsenko on a post of the public Prosecutor.

“Joseph Biden welcomed the appointment of Yuriy Lutsenko, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and reiterated the US readiness to support Ukraine in the reform of the Prosecutor’s office and in the fight against corruption”, – stated in the message.
