A veteran of “Vympel” explained the lack of body armor during the detention of Ukrainian saboteurs

The veteran group of a special purpose of KGB “Vympel”, the writer Valery Kiselyov has commented on the details of the arrest of Ukrainian saboteurs in the Crimea, which killed FSB Lieutenant Colonel Roman Kamenev and the soldier-a soldier of the airborne semen Sychev. According to recent media reports, all three groups went to the job “taking into account the specifics of working without bulletproof vests.

As reported NSN, Kiselev explained that the lack of body armor “is a natural, because without them fighters more maneuverable and agile”. He added that from machine-gun bullets, the body armor is unlikely to save. Kiselev recalled that in 1979 the Soviet units did not use body armor during the assault on Amin’s Palace. The expert said that the soldiers body armor dress up in an order, and the officer units such as the “alpha” and “Vympel” have the right choice.
