The growth of SEL depends on the technology that Russia has no

A new and highly optimistic forecast for the development of agriculture was given by the head of the Ministry Alexander Tkachev, in his words, in ten years, the SEL will give the country as much as the export of gas. The export growth rate is really impressive, but what exactly should be done to such a scenario became a reality?

Income of Russia from export of agricultural products in 10 years will be close to the income from gas exports, said agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev.

“Over the past 10 years we have increased exports by almost eight times, from 2.5 to nearly 19 billion dollars. Therefore, to increase exports by 2.5 times in the next ten years we are quite capable”

“The volume of gas exports (export earnings) to 50 billion (dollars). And mark my words, I don’t mean to be a prophet, but if so will go and we do not stop, I assure you – in 10 years we will approach the export (agricultural) to this figure,” – said Tkachev. According to him, this is a separate policy goal. “I think we will be able to break into foreign markets”, – the Minister added.

If the forecast proves correct Tkachev, the export of agricultural products is expected to grow two to two and a half times from 20 billion this year, up to 40-50 billion dollars in 2025.

The head of the government Dmitry Medvedev noted that “the volume of foreign exchange earnings derived from exports of agricultural products, is already above what we earn from trading of weapons.” The export of arms brings the country 13-15 billion dollars annually, while exports of agricultural products to $ 20 billion dollars. VZGLYAD already analysed in detail how it happened.

“Over the past 10 years we have increased exports by almost eight times, from 2.5 to nearly 19 billion dollars. Therefore, to increase exports by 2.5 times in the next ten years to us quite on forces”, – said the newspaper LOOK President of the National Union of food exporters Dmitry Bulatov.

Despite the fact that now one third of exports in this sector gives grain supplies, the future export growth for the food industry, experts say.

According to Bulatov, last year the export of agricultural products has been increased by $ 3 billion, however, mainly due to the supply of grain. While the export of ready-made food has not changed. In the past year has been put abroad of products of the food industry $ 8.5 billion. This is 9% of total Russian non-oil exports.

Now Russia is exporting finished products mainly sunflower oil, chocolate products, soft and alcoholic drinks (vodka, beer, mineral water). A significant source of income, last year she brought $ 1 billion, waste processing (bran, bagasse, beet press, etc.).

Which Russia exports and which can be promising from the point of view of export growth? It is wheat flour, biscuits, pasta, sausages, meat and canned fish, fish fillets, dairy products – cheese, yogurt, milk.

“Potentially we can produce and 130, and even 250 million tons of grain, if go to normal rotation and to technology-intensive, – says the newspaper VIEW Director of development Association of manufacturers and suppliers of food products “Rusprodsoyuz” Dmitry Vostrikov. But more realistic let to increase the export revenue – not to increase volumes of grain production and increase the export of processed products.”

“Locomotive APK may act only for the processing industry. For Russia it is strategically important to organize the processing of cereals – rye, oats, wheat, etc. By oilseeds we have a fairly modern processing plants, and grain – not” – said Dmitry Vostrikov.

“To get farmers to increase output – it is a utopia, but we can give them an economic incentive to increase grain production, use of intensive technologies, etc. the Farmer will understand that he can produce twice as much grain, he can sell it at good value, not bringing down prices in the market. Today, they come from minimum cost, cost per hectare,” says Vostrikov.

“Farmers are now trying in the rotation more fields to allocate for sowing oilseeds, not a grain. We see the growth of the gross yield of oilseeds during the last number of years. Because the production capacity of oil extraction plants exceed raw material base, and on the world market of vegetable oil enjoy growing demand. Holding back the increase in oil crops only, crop rotation: we can’t plant sunflower for several years in the same field, so farmers master the cultivation of oil flax, canola, camelina, mustard,” – said Dmitry Vostrikov.

If Russia will have its own technology for deep processing of grain, it can substitute the imported feed and supply of plant-based protein for the food industry. It does not only change the economy for farmers, livestock and dairy industry, but also will improve the quality of food products. “We will be able to produce a functional food, a balanced protein-carbohydrate balance, that is useful and not genetically modified products. Global sourcing vegetable proteins don’t really follow it,” says Vostrikov. For example, we can use your wheat protein in the meat industry, not the American soy protein, which will enhance safety, improve quality and increase profitability.

It is through the development of deep processing, the United States raised its agriculture, experts say. According to him, on the one hand, they have developed the deep processing of those crops that they grow well.

“The American vegetable protein sit many countries, soy protein is used in confectionery, and meat products, and feed. Plus developed the deep processing of corn,” says Vostrikov. Second, to keep prices at acceptable levels, there was created the biodiesel program. “The US food for people transferred to food. This gives you the ability to remove the excess supply in the market in good years. Thus prices are regulated and profitability of agricultural production. This is good policy, which we also need to strive for”, says Vostrikov.

To share technology for processing of wheat and other grain USA unlikely. Besides, from-for dollar exchange rate, the purchase of imported equipment and technology is too expensive, and the demand for some processed products by this technology is limited. “But Russia has an opportunity to bring our domestic technology for deep processing of grain to a higher level, and it will be much cheaper. Today we have an experimental working sample, but there is no commercial production of this equipment,” says Vostrikov.
