North Korea again resorted to militant rhetoric. This time, Pyongyang vowed to launch a nuclear strike on the US armed forces — in the case of any aggressive provocations from Washington and Seoul. Recall that just a week ago the North Korean military leadership said that a nuclear attack on the DPRK are preparing for the United States and South Korea.
Relations between Pyongyang on the one hand and Washington and Seoul on the other, already strained, worsened in the last month. On 6 July it became known that the United States impose sanctions against Kim Jong-UN and another two dozen North Korean officials, which caused the expected outrage in the DPRK.
After just a few days, the South Korean government announced the deployment on its territory the U.S. integrated missile defense system THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense).
Although experts agree that the deployment of missile defense systems in South Korea to the North makes little difference (because of Seoul, the North Koreans can “get it” and long-range artillery), Pyongyang expressed its firm intention to respond to this step and if the system is set to turn the South into a sea of flames and a pile of ashes”. (It should be noted that against the deployment of THAAD system in South Korea stands and a number of its citizens who would prefer not to give Pyongyang any excuse for threats.)
The situation was exacerbated by the ensuing few weeks the message that the United States will deploy a military base on GUAM a few strategic bombers B-1B and B-2. In Pyongyang noted that these aircraft are capable of carrying nuclear weapons, in connection with which American actions were interpreted in North Korea as preparation for a nuclear attack on the country.
Now, with the threats of such a strike was made and North Korea: “the Right to a preemptive strike is not the monopoly of the United States. The operational units of the Korean people’s army ready to strike a ruthless blow to the enemy in case of provocation from his side”, — stated in the message of the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea.
However, such statements — in one form or another — sound from Pyongyang regularly. So, exercises by us and South Korean military, the DPRK interpreted exclusively as a “rehearsal for invasion”. A main goal of Washington and its “puppets” as it is called in North Korea, representatives of the South, Pyongyang considers the change of the North Korean regime.Related posts:
