Castro is always alive

Fidel Castro celebrates 90 years. Man, went down in history half a century ago, survived almost all his contemporaries, enemies, friends, and critics. The commander has not only remained “a leader of the Cuban revolution, but became Patriarch for anti-imperialists and socialists in Latin America and around the world.

Fidel often compared to heroes of the works of Marquez, especially with Colonel Aureliano Buendia from one Hundred years of solitude”. But the life of Fidel itself as marksovsky surreal and realistic Marxist – he has become a human character, a human era.

Castro was neither a puppet nor a satellite of the USSR – it was just that ally with their views and interests, independent and ambitious”

Therefore, the real facts are intertwined with fiction, even his real age increased by a year – in fact, he was born in 1927, but in order to send him to school from five years old, my parents gave him. But it is not important for the biography of the most influential, that is, had the greatest impact on the era of living politicians. The role of Castro in the history of Latin America is really huge.

What is surprising is not how many years he ruled Cuba – after two and a half year will be 60 years since barbudos came to Havana. In the end, there are Thai king Rama 9 who have power, albeit limited, already 70 years old, the same age as Castro, Queen Elizabeth II, whose Royal experience approaching the age of 65. Castro, who stepped aside from daily management of the country eight years ago, is not interested in it – and the fact that he remains faithful to the ideas of social equality, Marxism, anti-imperialism. And during his long life became virtually second-Bolivar becoming on par with the famous liberator of Latin America from the Spaniards, the man who brought independence to the colonies.

Castro brought South America’s independence from the North – this process is not yet finished, but it was Comandante of its resistance made it possible. He stood against the USA – after enduring more than half a century embargo from a country that was not only strongest in the world, but which used Cuba completely dependent. Because national liberation, freedom was the one that fought for Fidel.

The origin of Castro was not determined his revolutionary choice – his parents were although simple, poor people (his father was a farmer, moved from Spain to Cuba), but by the time of his birth, became large landowners. Their children could receive a better education and having a career but Castro became a revolutionary at the Institute, for legal. Prior to that, he graduated from a Jesuit College, where he was among the first disciples – and it was 30-40 years when half the world was plunged into war, and socialist ideas triumphantly marched on the planet. By 1950, a young lawyer, Castro was already a revolutionary and antiimperialist – although not a Communist.

All of Latin America was in orbit of the United States – but even on this background, Cuba was the most dependent States in the country. USA took Cuba from Spain in the course of the war, 1898 – at the same time they took and the Philippines, which in the next half-century did not provide even the formal independence. Cuba also granted legal independence – but in fact the island has become a semi-colony of the United States: a gambling house, a public house, resort, hangout the American mafia.

So what is the main fighter against American imperialism appeared in Cuba, it is deeply symbolic – although Castro initially was not so anti-American set. He didn’t like the local rules, the local venal and corrupt elite, of course he wanted to take the land and the enterprise of the Americans and the local oligarchs – but it is not thought of a serious confrontation with the United States. But for the States themselves, the victory of the left in Cuba has become a challenge – they saw it as an attack on their interests. As it is, how dare he? Before that all attempts of the left to consolidate power in different countries of Latin America, Washington was able to block based on the local elite, was just canceled the election results, organized a coup or staged intervention – Cuba became the first case where the United States failed to achieve its.

Castro entered Havana on 1 January 1959, after several years of guerrilla warfare. It was social and anti-imperialist revolution. But for greater demonization of Castro in the United States quickly declared a Communist – although, in fact, he had not been, and no serious relations with the USSR have won the rebels were not. But, the US saw everything that happened in the world, and especially in their “backyard” through the prism of confrontation with the USSR – and then, wow, “the Soviets are in Havana.” Castro really quickly built bridges with Moscow – but largely because he had no other choice. The United States decided to destroy it in any way – and Castro in response to the rapidly radicalized, that is becoming even more antiimperialista and a revolutionary Communist.

For Nikita Khrushchev, Cuba was not only an important confirmation of the triumphant March of the anti-capitalist revolution, but also a good example for the rest of the world – Cuba, it was decided to support. After Castro repulsed the attacks of armed Americans immigrants at Playa girón, it was clear that the US would not leave Cuba alone – if you fail to kill Castro, they will organize all new incursions or go even in their own military intervention. To protect Cuba and to make a strong move in the geopolitical game with the US, Khrushchev sends to the island of missiles with nuclear warheads – that in the then atomic serious backlog of the USSR from America’s seriously improved our positions. Nobody was going to attack the United States – but would keep Cuba from an American invasion.

This operation almost led in the autumn of 1962 to a nuclear war – when the United States suddenly discovered that in Cuba stirred the Soviet launch complexes. But President Kennedy was smart enough not to go on about most of the generals and advisers, offering to strike at Cuba. Castro was afraid of nothing – but when the USSR removed the missiles from Cuba, having received guarantees of non-aggression against it by the USA were, of course, disappointed. He didn’t want war – but did not believe the assurances of Washington. However, although Cuba was not in the Warsaw Pact, the United States considered it as the closest ally of Moscow and never thought about the invasion. At the same time Castro was neither a puppet nor a satellite of the USSR – it was just that ally with their views and interests, independent and ambitious.

Little Cuba has become an important participant in antiimperialistic struggle is so important that even compare her with anyone. Not only Latin America, but Africa and Asia were in the area of attention and care Castro. He went to see Gaddafi in Libya, helped train personnel of the African rebels, studied the Vietnamese experience of the war with the United States. Its maximum influence in Cuba reached in the second half of the 70s, the Cuban army has saved Ethiopia from the defeat of the Somalis in Nicaragua defeated the Sandinistas, who were supported by Castro, on a small Grenada came to power anti-American leftists in Angola and Mozambique fought Cuban advisers. By the early ‘ 80s, Castro made Cuba the global revolutionary power, the last in the 20th century.

By that time neither the USSR nor China plans global anti-imperialist offensive. Moscow is increasingly considered new allies from a geopolitical, not ideological point of view. And Castro, being a fighter against U.S. imperialism, always and everywhere, was also one of the leaders of the non-aligned Movement, influential in the world, uniting most of the world, who did not want to be a political-military allies nor the United States nor the Soviet Union. It is clear that Castro is objectively pushing “non-aligned” anti-American, that is the best way of the USSR – but by the mid-80s and it was Moscow, not too interesting.

Came to power, Gorbachev in respect of which Castro quickly understood. He already was upset with Moscow, because after the invasion of the Americans on Grenada in 1983 Andropov made it clear to him that the USSR doesn’t want war with the USA over Cuba. Of course, it was not a waiver of Union relations – rather Moscow wanted to keep Cubans from rash action. The Americans brazenly attacked Grenada, overthrew the government, seized a lot of Cubans working there – but not the Soviet Union wanted Cuba thought we were finished with it to beat the little island from the United States. But Gorbachev’s perestroika was convinced Castro that the USSR departs from the struggle against imperialism and Communist ideals – he figured it was one of the first.

The collapse of the Soviet Union was supposed, according to the United States to kill Castro but Cuba stood again, already alone, without allies and friends. More precisely, they had the same China, Vietnam, but still in the 90s the island was very hard. With all that the Cubans live in the most part very rich, it’s happy by nature people – with the biggest in South America by life expectancy, good healthcare and education, without the blatant social inequality characteristic of other Latin American countries. Caved in under the US – would live materially richer, but would then be they Cubans?

Castro did not go to the restoration of capitalism only in the zero started cautious reforms. Then the island went to Western investment, canadian, French, Chinese. Back and Russia – almost too late, although the Cubans have never forgotten what we did for them. In the zero Castro became Patriarch of living for all Latin American leftists, nationalists and anti-imperialists. A new generation of leaders – Chavez, Lula, Morales looked at him as a second Bolivar.

This year even the United States acknowledged the reality that diplomatic relations were restored in Havana Obama arrived. Castro did not meet with him – on Protocol is not necessary, but of personal interest to the American President, commander does not feel. Although a few weeks before Fidel met with Patriarch Kirill – who had been on the island for a meeting with the Pope.

In 2000, Comandante met with the head of the Russia Vladimir Putin – and during their third meeting in the summer of 2014 Fidel was already sizing the man who picks up from his hands the banner of struggle for a just world.
