Personally loyal to Putin: who is the new head of the presidential Administration Vaino

Unlike Sergei Ivanov the new head of the presidential administration cannot boast of biography, reminiscent of a spy novel, and never had political ambitions. Friends describe 44-year-old Anton Vaino as the ideal administrator, operator of the highest class and of a man personally devoted to Vladimir Putin.

Until Friday morning the figure of Mr. Vaino, who was close to Putin since 2003, when he began work in the office of Protocol of the President, absolutely no one was interested. Except that in the spring, when members of AP reported about the incomes, the media grudgingly reported that Vaino no own car, but there is land in Estonia. Craving for exotic in comparison with Spain or Italy the country, as it turned out, due to the origin of the official. The grandfather of the new head of the AP was Karl Vaino — from 1978 to 1988 as first Secretary of the Communist party of Estonia. Although the grandson has left the Baltic States before school, nostalgia for the homeland, apparently, remained.

Offspring of the Communist party were often destined to a diplomatic career. Was no exception and Vaino: in 1996, he graduated from MGIMO, 5 years worked in the Russian Embassy in Japan, 2 years in the foreign Ministry. And a relatively young man at only 30 years old — came to the Kremlin, where he successfully advanced along the administrative line.

“Anton Vaino — apparatchik of the highest class. For many years he led the daily work schedule of the President. Very correct! Always collected and organized. One of those who doesn’t make mistakes. Amazingly functional. Perfectly knows the entire political and managerial elite of the country,” — wrote in his FB a former head of Department of internal policy of presidential administration Oleg Morozov.

Other familiar new head of the AP give it the same characteristics: “very Executive”, “sverhprovodimost”, “never go into politics”. And indeed, as Deputy Ivanov from Vaino was not his scope of work. Dmitry Peskov oversees the press office. Vyacheslav Volodin’s internal policy. (By the way, it Vaino was replaced at the time of the election holiday, but in the end jumped much higher.) Alexei Gromov — information policy. Vaino was also responsible for technical issues relating to the support of the President: preparing documents, tracking execution of decrees and orders, was responsible for the schedule, controlled shots. Putin is clearly valued by its quality hardware and performance: in 2008, he took it with him to the White house, and in 2012 m again called to the Kremlin. And although some experts suggest that the promotion Vaino can stand the powerful head of the Rostec Sergey Chemezov associated with the father of the official (“Rostec owns 25% of AVTOVAZ, in which Eduard Vaino was elected a Vice President for external relations), to a greater extent the appointment is placed in the personnel policies of Vladimir Putin, in recent times, relying not on old comrades, and little known to the public, but personally loyal people. The guards and members of the Protocol office is physically closer to the President (they’re always around the Kremlin, trips, in country residences) and psychologically clearer to him. At least he knows exactly what to expect from them. “Vaino, the new head of the Federal security service Dmitry Kochneva, the Tula Governor Dyumin Putin has conventionally been always, under him they have risen to the highest position. This generation can not imagine a Russia without Putin. For these people, Putin is a sacred figure,” writes political scientist Alexei Makarkin. By the way, not by chance, the new Deputy head of the presidential administration by presidential decree was appointed the current head of the Kremlin Protocol Vladimir Ostrovenko.
