Turkish Ambassador: NATO has no right to dictate to Ankara on their terms


Turkish Ambassador to Russia Umit Yardym at a press conference in MIA “Russia today” has called the allegations that Turkey may withdraw from NATO, or redefine its relations with the Alliance “is wrong and highly speculative position.”

“We are members of this organization and talk about the fact that we will stop working there,” said Yardym.

At the same time, he noted that the contacts of Ankara with countries that are not NATO members “are not something exceptional.”

“This does not mean that NATO has the right to dictate their terms to us and tell us who we should meet with whom we must communicate,” the Ambassador said noting that Turkey is independent “in the construction of its foreign policy.”
