Erdogan said that he delighted to call Putin after coup attempt


President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a meeting with Vladimir Putin said that the call of the Russian President immediately after the coup attempt was “very pleased” him and his colleagues. He also thanked Putin for the meeting, noting that relations between the two countries “has entered in a positive direction.”

The meeting in St. Petersburg was the first for Putin and Erdogan after the incident with the Russian su-24 in November 2015. Attack on Russian bomber Putin was then called a “stab in the back”. In response, Russia imposed economic sanctions against Turkey. The normalization of bilateral relations began in the summer of 2016.
