Erdogan saw no obstacles to the resumption of the “Turkish stream”


Ankara is ready to proceed immediately with the implementation of the project of construction of gas pipeline “Turkish stream, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. After Turkish air force shot down a Russian su-24 bomber on the border with Syria, talks about the project were suspended.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan ahead of his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which will be held on August 9 in St. Petersburg, made a number of important statements.

The politician stressed that the Turkish authorities are ready to take the necessary steps towards the implementation of the gas pipeline “Turkish stream”. “We are ready to take steps towards the realization of this project, discuss it and make a decision. Any obstacles to this is not” – said the President of Turkey in an interview with TASS.

Erdogan stressed the importance of cooperation with Russia in the energy sector, Recalling that our country is the largest supplier of gas to Turkey. So, by the end of July, Ankara has purchased from Moscow 12.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas. “This shows how important economic partner in this area is Turkey,” he stressed.

The leader of the Turkish state also spoke about his expectations from the upcoming visit to Russia. According to him, this trip will be of historic importance. “At the talks with my friend Vladimir, I believe, will open a new page in bilateral relations. Our countries have much to do together,” Erdogan said.

The politician also noted that without the participation of Russia is impossible to solve the Syrian problem. “Only in cooperation with Russia we will be able to resolve the crisis in Syria,” he said.

Earlier it became known that Putin and Erdogan during the meeting on 9 August to discuss the implementation of the project NPP “Akkuyu” and “Turkish flow” and the work of Turkish construction companies on the Russian market.

Representatives of the EU countries fear that the “Turkish stream” will bypass Ukraine as a transit route for gas supplies to Europe, increasing dependence on Russian “Gazprom”, reported Reuters.
