…The whole of August in Kazan will be something happening literally irreparable. It attracts all the wonderful soloists, winners of competitions (including winners of the “Tchaikovsky”) — Lukas Geniušas, Dmitry Makeev, Alexander Buzlov, Pavel Milyukov, Alexander Ramm… their name is Legion. It would seem, why? Svetlanov Symphony orchestra of Tatarstan has begun a worldwide recording all of the symphonies and instrumental concerti of Shostakovich to his 110th birthday. Such weight had not raised even a single orchestra in Russia.

— Recently a band got a Grammy for the performance of the Tenth Symphony of Shostakovich, — says Vladimir Ryabenko, but I don’t even know for what we were given this “Grammy”? The orchestra plays procesando, but nothing. They’re just playing notes, no Dostoevsky did not read what our life was like — I don’t know. Honest, pure, together, but it’s not music. And here, in Kazan, every Tenth piece is impregnated with living life and meanings. Shostakovich loves, in this musical to exist, builds it.
