Rosstat for the first time in five years recorded a deflation


Rosstat recorded weekly (from 26 July to 1 August deflation in Russia for the first time in nearly five years – since September 2011.

According to authorities, a decrease in consumer prices by 0.1% and the inflation rate since the beginning of the year — 4%.

Primarily deflation has ensured the prices of vegetables – fresh tomatoes and cucumbers fell by 8.5% and 7.4%, cabbage — by 4.4%, potatoes — by 3.9%, potatoes — by 3.2%.

However, lamb, sausages, wieners, fish, flour and wheat also became cheaper on symbolical 0,1%.
