In the European Union was seriously disturbed by the renewed “friendship” between Moscow and Ankara which allowed him to return to the discussion of the project of construction of a gas pipeline from Russia to Europe “Turkish stream”. After all, if this “gas pipeline” will still be built, Ukraine will need Russia as a transit country for natural gas, Europe will once again fall into dependence on monopoly – “Gazprom”, and on alternative supplies from the Caspian region will have to forget.

“The renewal of friendship between Turkey and Russia can be a problem for Europe, if the Russian authorities expect to change Ukraine to Turkey as a Transporter of gas… Because for Turkey it makes sense to get cheap gas from Russia but for the EU it is fraught with the fact that Ukraine will lose the status of transit country of gas dependence of the integration Association “Gazprom” will increase, and alternative options of gas supplies from the Caspian region will be closed” – quotes its words Reuters.
In the EU believe that an active dialogue between Moscow and Ankara in a greater degree passes a certain “political signals”, rather than focusing on the real renewal and promotion of major joint projects.
“Against the backdrop of recent political turmoil in Turkey caused by the failed coup that prevails in this country instability, if you are of sound mind, you cannot plan for global infrastructure projects,” – said the expert in energy of the Brussels-Analytical center Bruegel Simon Taliapietra.
The EU also noted that the renewed “warm feelings” between Russia and Turkey is still too fragile, after less than a year from the moment Turkey shot down a Russian military aircraft near the border in Syria.
However, the EU does not flatter and intend to closely monitor further talks between presidents Putin and Erdogan at the “Turkish stream” (at the moment, was the construction of two of four planned in the project pipelines, and a final decision on TP can be taken at a meeting of presidents of Russia and Turkey on 9 August – approx. ed.).
In any case, whatever the result, a plans to resume construction of the pipeline has already played into the hands of the President of Turkey, to cool the “top minds” in the EU, hit informed an avalanche of criticism on Erdogan for his authoritarian style of governance.
