The delegation of French deputies who visited the Crimea a few days ago, gave in Moscow press conference. Thierry Mariani said to come with a new visit to the Peninsula prevented him, even party members.
Separately during the visit, the French explored the situation of national minorities in Crimea.

— Noteworthy are the three things, — said the Deputy of the National Assembly from the Republicans, co-Chairman of the Association “Franco-Russian dialogue” Thierry Mariani. The first is that the visit took place. So many people in the last year tried to prevent us to return to the Crimea! Against us and me personally undertaken measures, there have been attempts to influence us at the party level. But 16 of French parliamentarians visited Crimea, despite the threats that they received.
Last year the French parliamentarians also visited the Peninsula on a private visit.
The second thing to note: the situation is more normalized, ” notes Mariani. We in the Crimea said that the process of return, but the main phrase that was heard during our meetings: “All right.”
This time, Crimeans spoke to us about future plans and projects because they feel confident in the future. It was about the construction of new schools, repair of roads, that is, the situation is normalized. People were more concerned with recreation than concern about safety. Those who represent Crimea as occupied territory, it would be better for yourself called for it to understand what is happening there.
And third, we more attention was paid to the care of minorities, and prisoners — adds French Deputy. As you know, one of the major questions for Europe are now the rights of minorities who suffer discrimination. We asked questions about being there, about the Tatar and Jewish population of prisoners and missing persons. And the answers we are completely satisfied. When we see that Crimean Tatar is the official language, that built special schools for teaching in the Crimean Tatar language, I’m sure in the future the Tatars in Crimea. I have much more confidence in their future as part of Russia than in the future of Russian in the Baltic States.
In General, it is understandable why those who visit the Crimea, are under pressure: the policy on the outcomes of these visits they say different than what is shown by the Western media.
Last year I was not a member of a delegation which visited the Crimea, — says the head of the French delegation to the OSCE parliamentary Assembly Michel Voisin. — With regard to my role as head of the French delegation to the OSCE PA, it is important for us to travel to places and to get acquainted with the situation on the ground. I think that when people have nothing to hide, it is fine when others come to see how things are going.
I must say that during the year there was a big change: much improved, improved. Those colleagues who participated in last year’s visit, it said.
