The UN security Council blocked the resolution of Ukraine in connection with joining of Crimea to the southern Federal district of Russia. Kiev hoped that the UN security Council will react and impose sanctions on Russian region to prevent the merger of the two districts. The resolution was blocked and now expects the international response to the statement by the Ukrainian authorities.
On 28 July the President of Russia Vladimir Putin has signed a decree according to which the Crimean Federal district joined the South, and its authorized representative appointed Vladimir Ustinov, former head of the SFD.
The Ukrainian foreign Ministry has sent Moscow a note of protest in connection with this. The UN security Council has made a resolution on the distribution of sanctions on southern Federal district, announced Ukraine’s permanent representative to the UN Volodymyr Yelchenko. However, the resolution was not adopted. And the Twitter of the permanent mission of Ukraine in the security Council said Russia blocked a resolution on Crimea.
