The staff of the INION – the Institute of scientific information on social Sciences – not approved “best architectural design” of its new building. Project organization, won the competition announced by the Directorate single customer on construction, major and current repair of FANO, proposed layout, which has even less space for the stacks than it was in the old mission, built in 60-ies.
As reported by “MK” at the Institute on Thursday, the management and staff of the Institute sent a letter to the Deputy Chairman of Russian Government Arkady Dvorkovich, presidential aide Andrei Fursenko, President of RAS academician Vladimir Fortov and head of the FANO Russia Mikhail Kotyukova.
Employees of the Institute are outraged that the draft of the organization “Giprokon” (it chose “the best of the best”) planned arrangement of the storage facility area of 4 thousand m2, despite the fact that the needs of the Institute today, to accommodate the books left behind after a fire is more than 10 thousand m2. “Talk of further replenishment of the storage facility when the scale does not go”, – has explained us a press-the Secretary of the Institute Valentin Efremov.
Even more perplexing choice of the Directorate of single customer was the fact that this infringement of the repository items catering designers took 1400 m2. “The volume ratio of the squares of the facility and eating at least puzzling,” write the authors of the letter. All this means that “the basic stock of Fundamental library of INION RAS is supposed to be placed elsewhere. The consequence of this approach will be the destruction of the library as a whole. While world experience of librarianship proves the necessity of concentrating all collections in one place.”
Another fundamentally important issue for the present and future of the Institute is the question of his whereabouts. Recently the Institute has been asked to leave the premises at ul. Krzhizhanovskogo, D. 15, K. 2. and to move to other districts remote from the location of institutions of social and Humanities Sciences. Such a move would dramatically complicate the interaction of the Institute with its divisions. Furthermore, the third half of the year a move will undermine the state order, said the staff of the Institute.Related posts:
