Scientists called laziness and Smoking are the main causes of early death

A group of researchers from University of Gothenburg, named the main factors that increase the risk of early death, Smoking and a sedentary lifestyle. If Smoking is injurious to health in General, lack of physical activity — primarily the cardiovascular system. A study conducted by experts, was at first devoted to the influence of physical activity on longevity.

To participate in the study, the researchers invited 792 men born in 1913. Thus, in 1963, when the experts began work, the participants was 50 years. Initially, the participants had to pass a test allowing to assess the degree of physical fitness. Some of the components this test was performed only 656 people — the rest of it was not recommended for medical reasons .As indicator to determine how easily people are physical load tests used the body’s ability to absorb and assimilate oxygen. As a result, people who have passed the test, were divided into three groups — those who were able to consume 2 liters of oxygen per minute, those who consumed more than a liter of 2.26 and a maximum of above of 2.56 liters.

After that, the experts observed the study participants for over 50 years before their century. While scientists watched how fluid life were the participants and see if they have any problems with the cardiovascular system. New tests on the degree of physical training, the men were held about once a decade.

Studying the obtained results, the scientists came to the conclusion that those who were in the third group (all the more easily tolerated exercise), the risk of early death was 21 percent lower than that of the second group, and 42 percent lower than the first. This ratio was obtained after scientists made an adjustment for other factors, such as Smoking, high blood pressure and elevated levels of cholesterol in the blood.

Summing up the results of their work, scientists recommend people to keep fit, as physical activity can help to improve the value of indicators, the key role which health emphasizes the study. The obtained results of the experts presented in the scientific journal European Journal of Preventive Cardiology.
