Media: Russia will launch a new system for space exploration


The Russian military will begin to deploy in space a new system of optical-electronic reconnaissance in 2019. It will be based on the satellite class “Hrazdan”.

Space forces have already started consultations with the Samara space-rocket center “Progress”. Their goal is the technical design of the satellites are optical-electronic reconnaissance, writes “Kommersant” with reference to sources in the defense Ministry and industry.

Satellites “Hrazdan” should replace the previous generation of devices of type “Person”. 2008 to 2015 in orbit were withdrawn three satellites of this class, but one of them stopped working a few weeks after launch (while the warranty period was seven years).

“Person” is used to obtain images with high resolution. During the Syrian campaign, according to the newspaper, were revealed inadequate orbital grouping.

For this reason, the operational monitoring and the tasks had to include civilian satellites for remote sensing class “Resource” and “Canopus”.

It is expected that “Hand” will receive high-speed secure radio channels and increased payload. In addition, since the third device to the satellites will set new telescopes with a diameter of over two meters.

The first “Hrazdan” should be launched in 2019, while the second in 2022, and the third in two years.
