Both the probe closer to the celestial body in August 2014, after which the “Rosetta” reached its orbit, and Philae after another three months was directed to the surface of the cosmic body. As a result, the apparatus is carried in a part of the comet, which is much worse than was covered by the Sun. So after three days of operation of the device is no longer enough energy from solar panels, and he had to be transferred into “sleep mode”. After many months, he again made contact, but to send signals could only from 13 June to 9 July 2015, after which the connection with him again was interrupted — as time has shown, definitively.
In September the probe to descend to “join” and “Rosetta”. As soon as the comet is too distant from the Sun, and the unit will cease to run low on energy, it was decided to provide a gradual decline, during which experts hope to obtain more information. In September, the probe landed on the comet, and even if it passes, all the instruments on Board will be disabled and the mission is officially completed.
