Russian pensioners poorer rapidly. Experts from the HSE in June recorded a sharp deterioration of living standards of older people, a third of whom rated their financial situation as very bad. In may this value was within 20%. How not to recall the careless words of the head of Ministry of labor Maxim Topilin, who this spring declared that “in Russia there are poor pensioners”. Maybe the officer was right: if this thing goes on, poor pensioners we don’t have. Only the poor.

The authors of the study, which is based on a special sample population survey by VTsIOM, emphasize that we are talking about subjective assessments and they can vary – who, as you know, the soup liquid, and someone pearls are the wrong size. That is why the monitoring indicated that the extremely poor are families in which there is not enough money for food, poor families in which have enough money for food, but you don’t have to buy clothes and shoes. Total those and others in Russia, more than 41%. The proportion of citizens who evaluate the financial situation of their family as poor or very poor 23%.
Oddly enough, the last two indicators are quite stable and stay on the same level almost from the beginning of the year. In June the share of citizens who noticed the deterioration of the financial situation of their families have not changed and amounted to 42%. As in previous months, with a worsening financial situation are more likely to experience the poorest segments of the population. At the same time saving on goods and services remains the main strategy for the survival of the population in new economic realities. According to the previous may survey, in the last three months has saved 78% of the families. Also, the citizens continue to refuse the borrowed funds: the volume of loans granted to individuals, in real terms, declining, and this occurs primarily by narrowing the segment of consumer loans.
However, began to decline, the number of Russians, giving a negative Outlook on the crisis phenomena in the Russian economy. The proportion of those who believe that hard times for the country is yet to come, has decreased from 48% in may to 46% in June. On the contrary, more and more people are inclined to believe that the hardest times have passed (21% in June instead of 19% in may).
Why suddenly “pulls” from this course retired? Leading researcher of the Institute of social policy VSHE Svetlana Biryukova believes that the number uncertain about their future elderly increased after the Russian authorities announced the impossibility of re-indexation of pensions in 2016. Pensioners already not enough money for life, as held in April of the indexation of pensions to cover inflation last year (almost 13%). The Ministry of Finance clearly stated that the money for increasing pensions in the budget there, so retirees will continue to Peter out. During the period under review the pensions decreased by 4.3%, while the average salary decreased by only 1%.
Professor of the Department of labour and social policy of iipam, Ranepa Love Khrapylina agree that the welfare of pensioners is deteriorating and when to start the “countdown” is not clear. “No wonder pensioners are feeling poorer: the prices on food, medicine, communal growing. It has the purses not only the most needy. The lack of money are beginning to be felt by those who until recently did not identify themselves in this category,” – said the interlocutor of “MK”.
Svetlana Biryukova has not excluded that during the next monitoring the proportion of citizens who evaluate the financial situation of their families as bad or very bad may still increase. And not only among pensioners. In August, families with children begin to prepare for the new school year and its expenses will increase significantly.Related posts:
