Turkey has frozen the action of the European Convention on human rights


Turkey refuses to implement the requirements of the European Convention on human rights during the state of emergency. This was announced by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for three months in the country established the state of emergency to neutralize the threat of a coup. Earlier, Reuters noted that this mode will allow Erdogan to limit or suspend the rights and freedoms of citizens in circumvention of the Parliament of the Republic.

“We hope to terminate the state of emergency as soon as possible – at most a month and a half,” said Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Kurtulmus on air of TV channel NTV, noting that the implementation of the European Convention on human rights for this period will be frozen, reports TASS.

The official also pointed to “structural and individual failures in intelligence”, which failed to prevent the attempted armed rebellion in Turkey. Note that the slowness of the intelligence services earlier said President Erdogan. He also said that he learned about the coup from his own son-in-law, but not immediately believed him.

According to Iranian media, about the impending rebellion of the Turkish President warned the Russian military that intercepted encrypted radio messages of the rebels. However, the press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that has no such information.

On the night of July 16, in Turkey a group of rebels was an attempted military coup, but the coup was suppressed. After that, Turkish security forces have arrested 113 judges and prosecutors. Mass purges have been conducted in the army, police, government agencies and the media. Only through litigation will be more than nine thousand people.
