Billionaire Donald trump became the official Republican candidate for President of the United States, won the majority of votes at the Convention in Cleveland. Just for the controversial businessman voted 1725 delegates (from 2472), while for his opponent Ted Cruz – 475. The three also included John Kasich, gaining 114 votes.
The vote passed without moves, which, as expected, was able to arrange opponents of the billionaire inside “parties of elephants”. Almost every President of the delegation during his speech, Trump expressed his support, calling him “the next President of the United States.” Some States gave an unequivocal answer to the question of who should represent the Republicans in November this year. So, Maryland gave billionaire 100% of their votes – 38. So did California, all 172 of which the delegate spoke in favor of the billionaire.
“I’ll never forget this,” said trump, speaking to delegates at the conference. – This is something I will never forget. Thanks to your voting, this stage of the presidential elections came to an end. This is a step forward, but we must go all the way. I am so proud to became a candidate for President. And it is an honor to work with Mike Pence (his chosen candidate for the post of Vice-President – MK)… We will win in November.”
However, as noted by The Huffington Post, trump is unlikely to win approval of that part of the Republican establishment who opposed him. The publication reminded that the national Convention was missing dozens of Republican senators, as well as the latest nominees to the U.S. presidency. Very revealing behaved and some delegations.
The biggest antithrombosis contingent focused group of delegates from Colorado. Representatives of the state actively demonstrated their dissatisfaction during the voting at the Congress: for example, remained seated on the ground, when the hall stood up to greet the mention of trump in the speeches of politicians. Announcing the results of voting, the Chairman of the delegation Colorado Steve house gave 31 the voice of Ted Cruz, while only four voted for trump.
A major scandal that accompanied the vote turned out and the performance trump wife Melania, on the first day of the Congress, July 18. According to the media, Melania “copied” a couple of paragraphs of his speech from “speech” Michelle Obama, at the Democratic party of the United States in 2008. Representatives of election headquarters of the trump does not deny the similarities, but saying it’s a common word. How will this affect the political destiny of the candidate-the Republican, is unknown. The reviewers of The Guardian write that the story of possible plagiarism can overshadow the nomination process.Related posts:
