Forms of such intervention has changed, but the essence is the same: make sports an instrument of geopolitical pressure,” — said the Russian leader.

He noted that the current situation resembles that of the 80-ies of the last century, when many Western countries, referring to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, boycotted the Moscow Olympics. And the sportsmen of these countries, Putin added, “have been unable to write his name in the history of world sport.” “Went down the drain years of hard work, hard training. In short, people broke life”, — said the Russian President, noting that many politicians later admitted these actions are a mistake.
