Specialists conducted a large study, which examined data of more than 50 thousand men and women aged 50 to 65 years. As it turned out, the more time people devote Biking, the lower was their risk of diabetes. Those who are within five years of riding regularly, this probability was approximately 20 percent lower than those who traveled anywhere by using the bike only occasionally or not at all used this means of transportation.
The researchers emphasize that they made allowances for other factors that could affect the chance of diabetes in certain people, including waist circumference, diet, alcohol or Smoking, as well as the commitment to other types of exercise besides Cycling.
“Cycling can be included in your daily schedule — reflects the study’s lead author Martin Rasmussen. for many people who often don’t have the time, it can be one of the best ways physical warm-up.
The specialists underline that their findings were disseminated, including on people, who formed the habit to ride a bike in a very Mature age. From this, scientists conclude that to resort to such way of strengthening of own health it is never too late.
However, as the authors of many other similar studies, experts admit that their results don’t with absolute certainty say that Cycling protects against diabetes — in the study, they were only discovered a General trend, not identified a definite causal relationship. In other words, it is possible that not reduced the risk of diabetes of the 2nd type is a consequence of Cycling, and both figures represent two independent consequences of some third factor.
