Commander of the Turkish Incirlik air base was denied asylum in the United States

The United States refused to commander of the Turkish Incirlik air base to Bekir Ercan to van asylum. The Turkish authorities accuse him of involvement in a recent attempted coup in the country.

According to The New York Times, “weekend General van approached U.S. officials with a request for asylum, but he refused.” Other details are not known.
