“We have to rebuild Ukrainian gas production. Today we import gas, which we lack, and buy it for currency”, – quotes the Ukrainian Prime Minister TASS.

As noted Groysman, in the near three to five years Ukraine may increase production to 20 billion cubic meters, which will give her the opportunity to become an exporter of fuel.

Currently, Ukraine imports gas from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, also there is the option of supply from Turkey and Bulgaria. In the first quarter of 2016, Kiev received on the reverse schemes from Europe 2.6 billion cubic meters of gas on 521,71 million dollars.

Earlier, Minister of energy and coal industry Igor Nasaliki declared that Ukraine can completely abandon the import of gas in the next few years, provided the increase in gas production on its territory and implement measures of energy saving.

Meanwhile, Gazprom announced the intention to optimize and eliminate several thousand kilometers of trunk pipelines as of the commissioning of the Nord stream — 2″.

In Ukraine, these plans has caused concern. “Naftogaz” has repeatedly said that gas supplies through Ukraine will cost several times cheaper than on the seabed.
