The permanent representative of the Russian Federation: strengthening of NATO in the Baltic States violates the founding act


The increasing military presence of NATO in the Baltic States violates the founding act with Russia of 1997, said the permanent representative of Russia to NATO Alexander Grushko. According to him, the decision of the NATO leadership has made the military component in Moscow’s relations with the countries which will host the battalions. The actions of the Alliance will demand from Russia of retaliatory actions to protect the interests, warned Grushko.

It is worth noting that Moscow does not see the difference between placing NATO troops in Eastern Europe on a permanent basis that is prohibited by the Act, and based on constant rotation.
